An imperial stout brewed with cacao and coffee, AB:22 has spent two years in darkness, drawing complex and indulgent flavour from the Speyside whisky casks in which it has resided: chocolate ganache, cold-brew coffee, vanilla pods, molasses, chocolate-covered raisin, fudge sundae, espresso martini, toasted coconut… this is one of our most intense and decadent barrel aged stouts, ever.

Taster from tap at Pivoteka, Zagreb. Black, minimal or small brown head. Oily. Aroma is dark malts, alcohol, lots of dried fruits, vanilla, barrel, wood, burnt or charred. Flavour is rich and complex bourbon, fruit, dark chocolate, milky, soft, thick, oily texture. Strong, bit drinkable and pleasant. Elegant as whiskey. Smooth as chocolate milk.

At a tasting, many thanks, viscous pour, muddy creamy head, darkest of black color, aroma of dark chocolate, charcoal behind and some whiskiness enveloping, flavor of whiskey, very dark bread, whiff of smoke, chocolate and cocoa with soya and umami coming through, mellow bitterness. Good and enjoyable, just a bit "in your face".

Keg at BrewDog Leicester. Black, almost purple and a little bit scary. The tiniest bit of brown head. Rubber, peat, vanilla, black liquorice, charcoal in the aroma. Surprisingly sweet taste with the booziness of the whisky adding a spicy sourness near the finish. Lighter body than most imperial stouts, but it's buoyed by heavy carbonation. A wonderful imperial stout which is enhanced by barrel aging.
