The first 2017 release in our boundary-pushing release of one-off Abstrakt beers is here!
An imperial stout brewed with cacao and coffee, AB:22 has spent two years in darkness, drawing complex and indulgent flavour from the Speyside whisky casks in which it has resided: chocolate ganache, cold-brew coffee, vanilla pods, molasses, chocolate-covered raisin, fudge sundae, espresso martini, toasted coconut… this is one of our most intense and decadent barrel aged stouts, ever.

On tap at BrewDog Shoreditch. Black beer no head. Oily black. Just way too hot. Some good oily chocolate sponge cake it too hot on the finish. Too fizzy too harsh to be pleasant. Good alcohol but not the best of the abstrakt series

375mL bottle, pours a thick, motor oil jet black with a small dark brown head. Aroma is intense, with whiskey barrels, followed by cocoa nibs, vanilla, and molasses. Flavour follows suit, with molasses, complex whiskey barrels with a touch of peat, and a tiny hint of vanilla. Love the Speyside barrel character, with low sweetness Wonderfully constructed and elegant. Lovely.

Bottle. Color: Black, thin brown head. Aroma: Pretty intense coffee and chocolate, with whiskey notes. Taste: Dark roasted malt, black coffee, notes of chocolate, caramel, toffe, molasses and vanilla. Full body, oily and warming mouthfeel. Bit earthy. The notes of Speyside whiskey become more intense towards the finish. Bit boozy finish. Soft carbonation. Nice complexity and well balanced. Great!
