Perhaps you’ve heard of a Imperial IPA masked as a Christmas Beer in a silly attempt to change a beloved tradition for sweet Holiday brews. This Imperial IPA is actually a no BS beer – truthfully very bitter and in all earnestly a bit on the heavy side. All in all brewed for all occasions – celebrating your firstborn, sending the kids away for summer camp, it’s Monday and this beer is scoring 100.

Hazy light amber color, small head. The hop aroma is a bit sweaty, animal. Lowly carbonated mouthfeel; caramel and toffee flavor, some of what seems crystal malt, blood, a bit cloying. Shouting, no poetry here.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - as All Occasions IPA, at Solmu, 20121012) The beer poured amber and a bit hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grass, malts and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A decent brew. A bit too sweet for my tate but the balance between hoppiness and maltiness was good.

33 cl bottle @ O’Connell’s, no BBE infof found
Aroma is sweetish with exotic fruits and some gooseberry bush. Flavour is hoppy with exotic fruits and hints of gooseberries. Feels a bit harsh but good anyway. And not too sweet.

330ml bottle @ Viisi Penniä, Helsinki

As All Occasions IPA (BrewDog) Pours dark reddish orange with a foamy white head. Strong hoppy and caramel malty aroma with notes of resin, sweet syrup, fruits and toffee. Taste is sweetish and malty with notes of strong bitter hops, resin, toffee and fruits. Finish is bitter and hoppy with some malty caramely notes. Nice hoppy IIPA, but perhaps a bit too sweet for my taste.

On tap at Schouskjelleren at the two year celebration (as Evil Twin All Occasions IPA). Golden to amber with an off-white head. Hoppy and fruity aroma with tropical fruits, citrus, pine, malt, caramel and hints of alcohol. Sweet, fruity and caramlly with a hoppy and bitter finish. Bitter aftertaste with some citrus. Farily well balanced, a bit sweet, but the solid bitterness in the finish balances it out in a way. Medium to full body. Decent DIPA, but a bit on the sweet and malty side. (2012-10-01)
