Perhaps you’ve heard of a Imperial IPA masked as a Christmas Beer in a silly attempt to change a beloved tradition for sweet Holiday brews. This Imperial IPA is actually a no BS beer – truthfully very bitter and in all earnestly a bit on the heavy side. All in all brewed for all occasions – celebrating your firstborn, sending the kids away for summer camp, it’s Monday and this beer is scoring 100.

Bottled. Hazy goldeny orange colour with a small creamy head. Aroma is fruits, caramel, toffee, and quite big "acidicness" to it as well as mild herbs. Flavour is similar with a big bitter bite to it. Tasty.

Bottle. An unclear one, golden in color and topped by a minimal sized beige head. The aroma has peaches and pinecones, not much else detected. Nice though. That goes for the flavor too, it’s citrus peel, pine cones and a nice bitterness that leaves most impact, but in the background there’s sufficient amounts of malty sweetness. Ful-bodied and pleasantly carbonated. Citrusy, bitter finish. Definitely not a quaffable, thirst quenching beer, but it’s tasteful and pleasant. 110916

On tap at Brewdog Camden, London, 07.01.12 Pours amber, quite sweet and malty though to be fair it doesn’t take long before the hops mostly grapefruit flavours start to show themselves. Touch of pines also noted and a pleasnat bitterness with a slight edge towards dryness at end. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Keg at Brewdog Aberdeen. It pours cloudy deep amber, with a thick off-white head. The nose is wood, farmyard, leather and Horlicks. The taste is resin, leather, brown bread, farmyard, umami aspect, alcohol warmth, peach, tinned nectarine and grapefruit, with a big bitter-dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Nice.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dagan’s place. Thanks troubles. Hazy orange color. Aroma of citric and slightly resinous hops. Flavor starts with light sweetish malt, but is mostly dominated by resinous bitter hops. Medium-bodied. Nice.

Fra kran på Schouskjelleren, Oslo 18 Okt 11. Gyldenbrun. Litt uklar. Lavt kremaktig skum som fester seg til glasset. Fruktig tyggegummiaroma. Smaken kompleks frukt. Sitrus i forgrunnen. Syrlig ettersmak. Litt for mye kullsyre.
