0.66 l bottle from 'Estate Wine - Beer Paradise', best before November 2022, birthday beer. Slightly hazy, ruby with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, quite fruity, slightly vinous aroma of molasses, red fruits, red wine, vanilla, strawberry jam and caramel. Fairly sweet, malty, moderately bitter, slightly woody and a little oxidized taste of caramel, molasses, oak, red wine, vanilla, tobacco and some sherry, followed by a medium, moderately bitter, slightly woody and a little boozy finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Overly sweet but with lots of flavour, fortunately the barrel adds some wood and tannins. Quite good, maybe not that refined but surely appropriate for any kind of celebration.
