The Black Prince was the eldest son of Edward III. He was married to Joan of Kent and is buried in Canterbury Cathedral. This is a full bodied mild, very smooth on the palate with subtle hop notes.

Pours dark as the night, with a small frothy off-white/beige head, and a mild aroma of fruity malt. Very smooth, with hints of dark fruit and a touch of coffee in the flavour, perhaps some liquorice coming through, and a slightly bitter finish

Bottle from Quex Farm Shop, near Margate. Dark brown, light fizz, decent beige head. Sweetish and fruity up front, with liquorice, blackcurrant, plain chocolate and a little earth. Light smoke with a little dryness and slight bitterness in the finish. More blackcurrant in the aftertaste. Decent, full-flavoured mild - I enjoyed it despite not being the biggest fan of liquorice flavours.
