Poured up on tap at the Oldsmar Tap house deep copper with gold edges and some modest lacing. The mild aroma wells up with sweet malts, a bit of caramel and date dark fruity esters. The taste begins with winter spices moving into sweet malts, caramel and then dates and plums. A touch of roasted malts and more spice surge forward midway to even things out and create some dryness. Nonetheless the sweetness builds upon successive samplings and becomes a bit too much.

Mushroom aroma ringed with subtle hints of cherries. Golden color, medium white head, with fine dark floating sediments. Barley malt and cherry flavor, spinach finish. Refreshing and pretty enjoyable. Solid maerzen, but nothing exceptional.

Pour is a copper with a small white head. Aroma is lots of malts and not much else. Flavor is again lots of malts with a really nice caramel after taste. Nothing earth shatering here but this is a well made marzen. Prost!

Shaker pint draft at Waldo Pizza in Kansas City, Missouri. Pour is almost entirely clear golden copper with a one inch dirty white head and a ton of lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, straw and hay. A bit subdued. Taste is more expressive than the nose with full mineral straw mild sweet caramel malt and a nice brightness to the finish. Nice floral aspect to the finish. Palate is thin medium. More mineral and clean in the finish. Really nicely drinkable.

$1.75 for a 12-oz bottle at Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Pours a dark golden with a frothy white head. Smells of grasses and leaves. Grassy, slightly nutty, slightly bready, and slightly leafy flavor.

Bottled. An amber beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty, while the flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and hay, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle thanks to a trade with kosko20. Batch 8611. Pours with a small, off-white head and a clear orange body. Aroma of toast, caramel, a touch of maple, and lightly husky. Taste is toasty with caramel and something vegital. Creamy mouthfeel for a marzen. light carbonation.

Bottle. The smell and taste of canned corn brought this marzen down several notches for me. Plenty of malts as advertised, but they are unrefined, out of balance with the hops. This is the first beer from Bells that I didn’t enjoy. Clear, light amber body with a short, diminishing off-white head. The aroma is filled with corn, grain, breads. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Flavors of canned corn juice, bread, caramel. Medium body with a watery texture. Moderate carbonation. The only reason I’d buy this again is to make sure this wasn’t a bad bottle.
