Bottle. Unclear amber body under a dense, medium sized tan head. Aroma has light roasted malt and slightly acidic fruit. Taste is medium sweet dark malt, toast, dry fruit, some acid red berries, grapes and wood. Medium body and quite dry, slightly acidic aftertaste. Slightly unusually and interesting.

Bottle from Wine Reserve, Cobham. I presume this is the same beer, only it's called 'Portal Craft Beer Editions on Oak Port Barrel Aged Dark Ale' and is 12% ABV. Vinous aroma, with charcoal and booze. Appears key black but has ruby red tint held up to the light. Frothy off-white head. Light-medium bitter. It's rich - port, liquorice and stewed fruit. The booze comes through, more so in the finish. Thick and creamy. A pickle of carbonation. Warming, astringent finish. A supper. To use two words again: rich and warming.

Dark brown with light haze and thin wispy head. Aroma has lots of red fruit and dry wood. Flavour has a background fruity tartness. Fresh and dried red fruits. Really dry woody finish. Slight warmth from the alcohol.

Clear red ale, creamy off-white head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: malty, dried fruits, some cow fodder, caramel, bit chemical. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sourish start, infected? Lemony, unpleasant bitterness. Aftertaste: bitter, quite some tannins.

Tap at Moeder Original. Dark brown color with tan head. Aroma is prunes, chocolate malts. Taste is prunes, wood, chocolate, sweetness from the barrel. Silky mouthfeel. Nicely balanced, and the Port barrels give a great addition.
