Proudly echoing English brown ales, the Glutenberg Red is renowned for its great complexity, both in its manufacture and in its taste. Brewed from two types of chestnuts, each requiring its own specific roasting method, this smooth beer with a hint of toasted nuts reveals a unique coffee and caramel taste. She stands out in all the charts, with good reason!

Amber in color with a two-finger head. Aroma is grains, kind on the hoppy side. Taste is grains, and a little bitter and not in a good way.

Clear amber brown colour, small macropore foamy beige head, mostly diminishing, good lacing. Aroma roasted malts, caramel, grain, wet hay. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, grainy, toffee, nutty notes. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, roast and earthy notes, medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation, well-balanced and quite tasty.

Can, at Duggfrisk. Almost clear in the glass, reddish brown in color, with a dense beige head leaving some curtains. Lightly roasted aroma with some hints of dried fruits and sugar, and a faint note of nuts. There's a light bitterness in the mouth, something earthy too, and also the nutty hints and dried fruits found in the aroma. A light roasted flavor too. Full to medium body, equally sweet and dry, with a pleasant carbonation. Medium length finish. Sure not bad this one either. 170819

Amber colour. Toasty, crackery malts. Moderate bitterness. Balanced...not half bad, and you would not know it was gluten free.

16 oz can (as red ale) on 16th Jan 2018 at my daughters in California. Poured into a Corsendonk glass (twice), it looked fine. red hue to the brown body, slight mistiness overall. Interesting ingredients list; buckwheat, millet, chestnut and quinoa (don't forget the 'candy syrup'). Different, a little caramel sweet, almost enjoyed it, just a bit weird really.

Tap at Erzbierschof Zurich. Pours clear dark amber. Aroma is spices, flowers, some candy. Body is light and a bit watery with a soft carbonation. Soft throughout, but in some way I like it.
