Our Pale Ale is a UK/USA hybrid, not overly hopped but balaned well with caramel sweetness of our roasted malts. We have used hops from the USA - Mount Hood, Cascade and Summit, with some Slovenian Dana.

Keg at Kingfisher on the Quay, Mytchett. Aroma is sweet and caramel. Clear amber. Rick foamy white head. Light bitter with a not entirely pleasent edge. Grain. Chemicals. Light bodied. Thin if slick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long somewhat astringent finish. Would be bland but also somewhat chemically.

Cask at the Old Beams, Milton Keynes. Pale amber with a white head. Sweet and buttery, a little grass, some citrus notes. Tastes rather oddly like a cross between a bitter and a helles.. it's ok, but I'm not sure this is what they were aiming for! McMullen's, in line with many of the other traditional family brewers, have for some time now been desperately trying to jump aboard the good ship craft beer. This beer proves once again that they've not only missed the boat, but haven't even yet joined the queue to get into the port.

Keg at Cowper Arms @ Digswell, Welwyn Garden City. Golden amber colour, white foam head and fruity malt aroma. Taste is malt, caramel with some fruity hoppy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry finish. Quite OK

Keg at the Nags Head, Covent Garden, 16/07/18. Clear golden amber with a decent off white cap. Nose is rather thin comprising pale malts, vague citric noted, toasted bread. Taste doesn't really kick in either ... grassy notes, toasted grains, faint lemon rind, crackers. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so affair ... pretty thin and muted in flavour.

Keg at the White Hart in Hertford - Brand new beer from McMullens under their Rivertown brand. Interesting, but I would never call this a pale ale. It’s more like an English IPA and was quite good. It was a nice dark brown colour in the glass, , but served a bit too cold. As it warmed I got some good bitter hops and it had a thirst quenching mouthfeel. One that I would have again if I was in a McMullens pub over anything else that they sell.
