12 oz bottle from Brewers Haven. Near black, tiny ring of brown head. Rich roasty aroma, mild sweetness, raisins. Taste is sweet, chocolate. Silky smooth with a healthy burn. The next level. This is legendary stuff.

Black with a lasting off-white head. Roasted aroma with salt licorice, chocolate, molasses and toffee. Sweet, dark flavour with licorice and molasses dominating. Warm, vineous alcohol, only slightly boozy. A bit simple and overly sweet, but a year in the cellar might improve it.

Bottle - nearly black pour - headless, low carbonation - flavor is deep at boozy - dark bread, smoke, rum, treacle - a lot of heat on the end - cloying and boozy, but has plenty for f enjoyable qualities.

clear dark mahogany colour, half inch of creamy beige-ish head; aroma of raisins and prune soaked into cognac, hearbal liqueur and chocolate notes; taste of syrupy sweetness, raisins and dried plum, maybe some dried cherry also soaked into cognac, some milk chocolate and herbal notes; spicy alcoholic aftertaste...well, not an easy lager for daily consumption...and not really ideal for a hot summer afternoon - but it's a winter evening, so no reason for any complaint from my side :)

Bottle 33 cl. Pours black with a vague burgundy shine and a small, beige head. Strong and sweet alcohol nose - like raisins in rum. Body is only medium, sweet, complex sugars and dark, dried fruits with a boozy finish. Not sure I could drink a whole bottle but a 10 cl shot is delicious! 181218

Bottle 330ml. @ home. [ As Schloss Eggenberg Samichlaus Schwarzes ].Clear dark black - red brown colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, dark malt, sugary, alcohol, boozy, molasses, sweet malt, sugary raisin, sugary plum, moderate roasted - dark malt. Flavor is light heavy sweet and light light bitter with a long duration, sugary, alcohol, dark malt, molasses, brown sugar, sugary raisin - sugary dark fruit. IMO way to sugary - overly sweet and boozy. Body is medium to full, texture is oily nd sticky, carbonation is soft, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20181109] 7-4-7-4-13

Bottle. Earthy chocolate malt, alcohol, and fresh hay aroma. Dark brown with minimal head. Very sweet chocolate malt, and moderately bitter oak, hay, and alcohol flavor. Good body. Almost cloyingly sweet.

0.33 l bottle from 'BeerLovers'. Clear, very dark ruby with a thin, frothy, beige layer. Extremely sweetish-malty, slightly boozy and minimally fruity aroma of molasses, caramel, some raisins and a touch of red fruits. Fairly sweet, malty, slightly fruity taste of molasses, caramel, raisins, prunes and a touch of chocolate, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, quite warming and a bit boozy finish. Full body, oily mouthfeel, almost flat. Very heavy but also very tasty, a slow sipper but still well-drinkable for that abv, quite good!
