0.33 l bottle from 'BeerLovers'. Clear, very dark ruby with a thin, frothy, beige layer. Extremely sweetish-malty, slightly boozy and minimally fruity aroma of molasses, caramel, some raisins and a touch of red fruits. Fairly sweet, malty, slightly fruity taste of molasses, caramel, raisins, prunes and a touch of chocolate, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, quite warming and a bit boozy finish. Full body, oily mouthfeel, almost flat. Very heavy but also very tasty, a slow sipper but still well-drinkable for that abv, quite good!

$5.60 bottle, Wine Warehouse. Pours dark brown with a dusting of a beige head. Aroma is sweet - not cloying, caramel, brown leaves, leather. Flavor is thick and sweet: caramel, alcohol, earth, leather, oak, brown leaves, with a chocolaty finish. Nice.

Pours very dark rubybrown. No head, no sign of carbo even. Scent is rich, complex, chocolate notes, red fruits, very sharp. Not boozy at all, to my big surprise. Taste is full, intense, caramel, raisins, dark chocolate (rather hidden) mild sharp grainyness. Very gentle touch of booze, and even though it aint boozy, it does end with a clear note of intense alcohol in the throat. Very, very well done. Extremely complex. Bitter at the start, but a rather intense, yet complex sweetness overtakes the end. i'm sure better tasters than me can get loads more out of this. It's still greatly in balance though. For the booze, it's extremely drinkable. This is a winner !

Refrigerated 11.2 oz. brown bottle poured into a snifter. Black with small off-white head. Aroma is rich toffee, medium/thick body, lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is rich toffee, caramel, molasses, some smoke, and some tootsie roll. Really nice rich beer. This has some barley wine characteristics.

Bottle. Dark brown color, creamy foam. Strong malty aroma, dried fruits, blue raisins, caramel, wine, brandy, plum wine. Taste: mighty, malty, sweet, port wine, strong and fine.

Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky black color with a trace soapy tan head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was intense molasses, toasty malts, fig, cherry and red wine. The flavor was strong fig, raising, cherry and date followed by intense molasses, caramel and red wine. A bit boozy but pretty well controlled for 14%. The flavors just explode on the tongue. Incredible depth. Amazingly long finish. Full bodied and smooth. Marvelous!

Dark brown. No head. Sweet, soy sauce, and the palate is about the same. Nice malts...rich, and maybe more rounded and sugar-focused than the other dark version. Good beer but not one for balance.

On tap at PIB 2017, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small tan head. Aroma brings out deep dark fruits and caramel. Flavour is extremely sweet, with loads of brown sugar, caramel and light toffee. Exceedingly sweet, in cloying territory. Good stuff.

Bottle. Creamy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Very dark red amber colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy very herbal aroma. Moderate biter and light sweet flavor. Long moderate bitter finish. Alas slightly alcoholic. Creamy palate.
