Kleur 43 EBC.

75 cl bottle. Pours hazy to murky brown, small tan head. Aroma is phenolic, toasted malty and slight herbal. Dry. Sweet, toasted and bubblegum malty, caramelish. Sweet and phenolic finish.

Pours unclear, dark amberbrown. Small white head. Smell is weak, mild sweet touch. Taste is mildly bitter, some earethy sweetness. Rather thin mouthfeel. Ok carbo. Nicely different than others in the style, it has more of a earhthy, almost roasty touch. Just not very intense, or specifically nice in a way.

Courtesy of tderoeck. Amai’s attempt at a dubbel, with a stable, sticky, off-white head and clear bronze colour (paler than I am used to for the style, already an ominous sign). Caramelly aroma, some herbal hops, biscuit, red berries, bread, apple. Sweetish, fruity onset, toasted malts, nutty accent, bits of leafy hops in the finish with light bitterness; notably thinner body than normal for a dubbel. The colour of the head and the beer itself as well as the relatively thin body give it away: this clearly needs less caramel and more dark malts in order to distinguish itself among the dubbels which are already on the market. In this form: totally redundant.

Sampled from bottle @ Tim needs to get rid of his ticks tasting. Clear medium brown color, medium sized white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, a hint of caramel, slightly a metallic hint. Taste malts, caramel is more present than in the aroma, slightly a hint of iron in the finish, soft malt bitter finish. Decent body and carbonation. 6-2-6

Thanks to tderoeck! 330 ml. bottle sampled @ “Tim needs to get rid of his ticks” Tasting. Enjoyed together with tderoeck, Benzai & Alengrin. Tasted the entire current line-up of Loemelaer (9 beer currently) after each other. Rouge amber (what is up with this brewery & their bafflingly coloured beers), even the appearance makes me think of caramel extracts. Light white head. Nose carries some artificial red fruits, minor but there (reminiscent of their Rosse beer), caramel extract, basic sweetness. Taste is lots of caramel extract, light red fruits & metallic, thin bodied, lightly bitter, basic sweetness. Tastes a bit like their “Blonde” with caramel extracts thrown in. Once again taste artificial to me, at least this one is somewhat enjoyable. You have that.
