Bottle: Poured a deep reddish color ale with a large foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of oak and tart cherry notes with some very nice vinous notes. Taste is also dominated by oak notes with tart cherry notes with some vinous notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation and surprisingly no apparent alcohol. Very complex notes with great drinkability but not sure I can really detect the different barrels.

Bottle from Star Grocery in Berkeley, CA. Pours ruddy orange with no head. Oaky sour red berry aroma. Med body. It’s both sweet and sour. These two things move around with each sip. Some mild spice develops. Cinnamon? Complex, yet sort of simple. Very nice.

At a tasting at KyotoLefty’s place. Not sure if it was this vintage, a reddish-orange pour with a farmhouse funky aroma. Full bodied, sour, sweet, fruity and cherry flavors. Overall a good beer and possibly my favorite of the BFM beers of the night but then again I am a sucker for fruit beers.

Draught @ The Ginger Man, NYC. Pours clear ruby with small white off-white head. Vinous aroma with flowery and fruity notes. Non-aggressive vinous flavour withnotes of malt and alcohol. Sour finish. Nice but nothing truly revolutionary.

Bottle, thanks to Bruce. It pours deep red-amber with a small white head. The nose is vinous, cherry, red grape, wood, vanilla, wet leaf, creamy notes and berry yoghurt. The taste is vinous, grape, raspberry, lemon sherbet, sprtizy, wood, fruit syrup, faint vanilla and a touch of alcohol. Moderate carbonation and fine, prickly carbonation. Great sweet-sour balance and depth of flavour. Another great BFM sour offering.

Bottle from Cervezorama 2.0, Madrid
Cloudy amber color with small creamy head, not very persistent. There is the classic BFM aroma, woody, with notes of balsamic, and light fruitiness from a perfumy wine; also notes of bread and vanilla. The mouthfeel is well carbonated and lean; good malt flavor, with moderate BFM astringency and soft tannins; a little residual sweetness balances the moderate sourness; it’s quite fruity, with components of red grapes, cherries, citrus fruits, hint of grapefruit. It has a great balance, complexity, and similarity with some aged Kriek Lambic.
Elegant, and one of the most vibrant BFM beers.
