Winter Bock, 7.1%, bottle at the Stehausschank. Hazy golden body, white head. Bready, soft, sweetish malty aroma, light herbal-spice notes and alcohol. Creamy, quite nutty taste, citric, vahue orange, a bit flat, the mouthfeel isn't great, but tasty enough.

I picked this up from Jürgen Appel Getränke, Au in der Hallertau and consumed at home Thursday 21st January 2021, whilst doing Beerschool with Natalya Watson via Zoom, we had pizza tonight from the Italian restaurant in the village. Pours dark gold/light amber with a white head, haze to this. Woah this has the most dreadful aroma, I smells of sheep dung, horse manure, it really is most unpleasant, I almost recoil. The taste is thankfully not as bad, however it's sweet, malty it feels like there is a lot of residual sweetness here, no dryness, soft mouthfeel. However the nose is so off putting I simply cannot drink it.

Bottle (333ml):Golden, hazy to cloudy, quite stable medium-sized off-white head; moderate sweet-bitter nose of pale-malt with a touch of honey and herbal hops, mild waves of alcohol in the background; robust bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, not so soft; fruity traces in the honeyish-malty and dry bitter finish, some alcohol burn in the aftertaste. All in all a pretty tasty Bock...

(bottle, 33cl) Slightly hazy, deep golden colour with a medium-sized and slightly off-white foamy head. Hearty malty aroma with notes of biscuits, caramel, powdered sugar, shades of marzipan and subtle fruity accents. Moderately sweet flavour, medium bodied with a tame carbonation. Slightly bready malt character with delicately fruity notes, hints of caramel and floral accents; moderately sweet and slightly hop bitter finish, again with delicately fruity accents. Wonderful aroma with a rather tame taste. 25.I.17
