Aroma is toffee, roasted malt and a touch of smoke.
Taste is roasted malt, toffee, licorice and some coffee. Finish is quite harsh with notes of ripe, dark berries.

500ml Bottle - Black with a small head. Liquorice, treacle, raisins, coffee and cocoa in the aroma. Liquorice, coffee, chocolate, aniseed and some cocoa dusted raisins in the taste. Not quite as smooth as I was expecting but tasty all the same and another great dark beer from Fuller’s.

Bottle bought from the brewery shop, drunk at home. Dark chocolate brown with a small tan head. Smell of hot chocolate, oats, liquorice. Sweet creamy taste, but there is a surprising if muted hoppy bitter note in the finish. Medium to heavy body with soft carbonation. It didn’t blow me away but it is certainly solid.

500ml bottle from Fullers online. Black brown colour, tan foamy head leaving lacing and aroma of roasted, grainy, fruity notes. Taste is chocolatey malt, roast, with grains, dark fruits, milky, warming, booze and some tangy bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel, full to medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry nutty bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottle at the Parcel Yard Kings Cross. Black beer lasting tan head. Chocolate liquorice flavour. Dry. Some dark fruits. Very dry tarry porter. Quite thick on the palate. Good. Dark chocolate.

Bottle at the 2nd Annual Garvie Christmas Tasting. Pours clear deep red brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of light liquorice, light chocolate. Taste is sweet, light roast, chocolate. Good mouthfeel. Dry finish.
