0,35 l can. Pours nice light amber with a small head. I love the aroma! I guess this is one of the hoppiest aromas I’ve encountered with a lager so far. But well, this one is supposed to be “india pale lager”. Aroma is fresh, some fruits, melon and freshly cut grass. Taste has two layers, from one side it is mellow and soft, just like eating some marshmellows (altbeit not so sweet) – but it has a bitter kick inside that takes over when the aftertaste comes.Aftertaste is long, dry and bitter. Body is satisfying, not too full but not too watery either. I guess Coedo has been able here to do something pretty special – using a very common lager as a base to create something special. Thumbs up!

Bottle from Oto Market in Sacramento, CA. Pours light golden amber with a slight white head. Aroma is light fruit - melon? grape? Med body or nearly. Flavor is grapey with a touch of citrus, plus breadiness. Certainly much tastier than the average sweet Vienna.

Updated Rating Jan 2015 ---Won a silver medal in the American Style Amber Lager catagory at the 2014 World Beer Awards. What started off as a Vienna Lager now seems to be an India Pale Lager this pours a deep gold with a fruity hoppy nose of light pine and citrus. Not sure when this beer changed but it is nothing like what I had before. The body is light with a decent mouthfeel. The taste is a clean crisp hoppy pine, good malt light character with a dry finish. Easy drinking at a nice price. ----original rating 2013---- A can from Eki-marche in Osaka station at 280 yen. Drunk on the train home staright from the can. A subtle dark malt aroma, malts then some hops. a pretty nice smell. The flavor is a bit too one dimensional hop bitterness over a malt backbone, kind of a rough finish. Not bad but it could be better with a bit of tweaking. Ok but fairly average, the top quality ingredients don’t really gel together so much... as it warmed up it mellowed out and the malts stepped up to counterbalance the hops and the roughness became more subdued. I think you should drink this in the 12-15C range for best results.

Tangerines on top of oranges and brandy. Dry hoppy and drinkable. Nothing too hardcore, but nice.

Draught at Molto. Pretty medium amber-orange color with lace. Grassy hop nose, light Vienna malt and citrus. Light and clean flavor, crackers, with bread, light caramel and big grassy hop. Very drinkable and nice. A bit of Nelson-esque catpiss too, but just a touch. Much better than the old recipe.
