Campari-Soda - daran erinnert mich dieses Bier. Sowohl optisch, als auch geschmacklich besteht hier eine gewisse Nähe. Das Bier hat nen recht rötlichen Einschlag, geht noch als heller Bock durch. Extrem feinpooriger Schaum, wie man ihn ganz selten sieht. Geruch herb fruchtig, mit leichtem Sekteinschlag. Ganz ähnlich dann auch im Geschmack. Wir haben Orange, Mandarine, Grapefruit, Orangen- und Zitronenschale. Den hohen Alkoholgehalt schmeckt man - sogar deutlicher, als die tatsächlich vorhanden 7,2 % vermuten lassen würden. Die feine Malznote bleibt trotz der stark vorherrschenden bitter / fruchtigen Noten gut erkennbar. Von der Spritzigkeit ist das ganze knapp über Medium angesiedelt - einer der ganz selten Fälle, bei dem ich mir sogar noch mehr Kohlensäure wünschen würde. Das würde den Charakter dieses Bieres noch stärker rausstreichen. Ein eher ungewöhnliches Bockbier - aber schmeckt schon recht gut und macht echt Spaß. Sollte man mal Freunden kredenzen, die normalerweise nichts mit Bier am Hut haben und eher Sachen wie Sekt, Aperol Spritz, Gin Tonic oder eben Campari Soda bevorzugen. Vielleicht kann man dieses dann doch noch auf die dunkle Seite der Macht ziehen.

On tap at Irseer, Klosterbrauerei at Markt Irseer nr Kaufbeuren, Sunday 11th September 2022. Pours warm gold to light amber brown, almost perfect clarity with a mid sized off white head. Warming and surprisingly easy drinking for the abv, chewy maltiness, some dark sugar. Good.

50cl bottle. A clear reddish golden beer with a beige lacing. Aroma of strong grainy malt, mild sweet caramelized malt. Taste of strong grainy malt, caramelized malt, honey.

ABV: 7.2%. Clear medium to light orange amber colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, sweet malt, flower, sweet malt - nectar - honey, light grass. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, sugary, sweet malt, caramel, flowers - candy, sweet malt - honey - nectar. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. Bottle. Clear amber color with white head. Aroma is apple skin, wood, phenolic, some booze. Taste is milky yeasts, some spiciness, estery, touch of apple. Silky mouthfeel. Not bad!

Cloudy orange, offwhite ring. Apple and bandaid aroma, medium body, chewy, light nut, a bit off, some berries, bready toast finish.

Clear amber with little white head. Aroma is woods, phenols, chocolate and cherries. Taste is intense syrupy sweetness, with some bitterness and slight sourness. Full body, long finish, low carbonated, oily mouthfeel. Nice and heavy.

Herber, süß karamelliger Antrunk. Getreide- und Alkoholnoten, etwas herb, röstig. Die Alkoholnote bleibt vorhanden, das Malz sehr getreidig. Kurzer Nachhall. Eher harsch, könnte deutlich harmonischer und auch vollmundiger sein. 8/8/9/8/11/8

Brown colour with an off-white head. Nose is lightly malty, couldn’t pick up much more. The taste, however, is a much different story; notes of dark fruit, caramel, molasses, toasty malts and an alcohol tinge.
