Taste: Smooth and sweet marzipan leads the taste with a long warming aftertaste. Candied hazelnuts and pecans join in with a rich, sweet malt backbone supporting the rounded oaky tannins eventually giving way to sweet honey and warming toasted spices.

Keg at Beer Merchants Tap - Hackney Wick. Pours deep brown with a slight, foamy yellow-tan head. Big sweet flavour but still fairly subdued and rounded, lots of dark malts, liquefied dark fruits, raisins, some lightly bitter chocolate, nips of ashy roast and earth. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, lots of dark sugars, raisins, charred marshmallows, burnt toffee. Good fun.

Superficial festival rating at Brew Festival, Oslo 2022. Saturday session 2. Black body under small, lacing beige head. Aroma has dark malt and boozy alcohol with a hint of gooseberry and dry fruit. Taste is sweet malt, brown sugar, dry fruit and lots of alcohol. Fine body and same aftertaste. Sure, a flavor bomb, but they did not manage to balance the alcohol this time. To raw and boozy.

On tap at Brew Festival. A small dark beige head forms over a close to black body. The aroma is boozy and alcoholic, with roasted malts, chocolate and some caramel sauce. It’s full-bodied and soft on the palate, lightly warming and quite low on carbonation. Sticky, with a sweet flavor. Caramel sauce, dark chocolate, roasted malts and booze. Some woody notes and a touch of dark dried fruit. Raisin mostly. Sweet, warming and lasting finish. Lovely boozyness in this one, and really nice indeed. Lacks a bit on malt complexity though I think. 220430

Tap. Darkest brown color with beige head. Aroma is big barrel, rum-soaked raisins, chocolate, caramel, intense, almost a bit roasty. Taste is the same, a bit rum, pretty boozy, nice heat. Fizzy-ish carbonation, full-bodied.
