Thornbridge’s first ever Nitro beer is here! Ena is a smooth milk stout, brewed with an array of roasted malts and oats to give a beer full of rich coffee, chocolate and toasted flavours. Lactose, an unfermentable milk sugar, is added to the boil to balance the complex grain bill and give the finished beer a luxurious finish.

Draught @ Salhojankadun Pub. Aroma has pot coffee, ash and licorice. Flavour has toasted malt, some sweet notes, pot coffee and hints of tobacco. Rather rich and nice for this ABV.

(Keg at Hilpeä Hauki, 20170311) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had creamy coffee and burnt malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were creamy coffee, burnt malts, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, sweet and bitter. A nice sweetish burnt brew.

On nitro at Rose and Thistle, Frimley Green. Brewery residency. Malty chocolate aroma. Dark and glossy. A ruby tint in the light. Thick beige head - when first poured it looked like some sort of layered cocktail. Low key light sweetness - vanilla and chocolate. Malts. Some playful underlying bitterness (which sound good if nothing else). Light-medium bodied. Creamy. Flat carbonation. Long slightly astringent finish. Hmmm... one of those beers that benefits from being low key enough that you could down a load. But when does inoffensive become just bland? Perhaps served overly chilled. Knocked off a point from Taste as it really is so down on the dial.
