En lätt rökt och inte särskilt söt rauchdoppelbock. Satt fint som kvällens näst sista öl med rökt korv och ost.

(Bottle, In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 2 Aug 2010) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, smoky nose with notes of smoked ham, dark fruit and caramel. Malty, smoky taste with smoked ham or sausages, dried fruit, toasty malt and a mild, slightly spicy bitterness. Amost full body, smooth and soft mouthfeel. Fairly sweet. Despite the smoke and the fairly high alcohol level it’s dangerously drinkable. Very nice.

2011-03-25, draught at Ølbaren, Copenhagen, 8-5-8-4-16=41
Beautiful dark red-amber color; compact head. Wonderful smoke aroma, penetrating, with a light late sausage-like sourness, caramel and light roasted malts. Good body structure; strong caramel flavor, with more roasted malts than Schlenkerla, but balanced by a moderate residual sweetness. Good bitterness level, with a touch of roasted nuts in the end. Powerful and complete.

Mahogany color; creamy head. It has a medium aroma of caramel and smoke, lighter than the Raucherla tasted at the same time; also, light burnt wood. It has a good body strength, with dark caramel flavor and some smoke, unfortunately with too much dark caramel and roasted flavor, for my liking; the roasted malt reigns also over the final, giving bitterness to the beer, and resulting in a dry mouthfeel. Not my favorite.

Cloudy dark amber color. Smoked sausage aroma, with the light sourness that comes with it. Medium body strength, caramel flavor, the sweetness is minimal, less than my liking, but at least present; the smoke is delicate; the bitterness is higher than expected, it kills a bit the smoke and caramel; in the final the bitterness is decisively too high. It’s a quite good beer, but it spoils somehow the experience of a Smoked.

Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Cloudy bronish amber Strong beachwood sokey aroma. Sweert ad full bodied, fairly soft mouthfeel. There’s tar and sugar ans well as mild arming alcohol. The extra alcohol and sweetness reduces the refreshing qualities of a rauchbier, but adds power.

Pours clear amber into a stem glass. Offwhite head quickly recedes leaving no lacing. Smokey fire aromas. Upfront bacon and sweet smoked peaches. A little fruitier than expected while still maintaining a solid smoked character.
