Bottle from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Smoked brown malts with notes of smoked ham, caramel, ash, touch of dried fruit. Moderate sweet, light bitter. Above medium body. Really solid stuff.

0.5 l bottle from 'Meibier.de', best before May 2023. Clear, ruby with a thin, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, fairly smoky, slightly fruity aroma of smoked ham, caramel, raisins and prunes. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, rather smoky and slightly fruity taste of caramel, lots of smoked ham, raisins, dark honey, toasted nuts and prunes, followed by a medium long, gently bitter finish. Medium to full body, very smooth and slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Great Rauchdoppelbock, quite intense, just a tad less moreish than Schlenkerla's Eiche Doppelbock.

500ml bottle. Opalescent, copper-ish, brown colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Leafy, smoky, malty aroma, notes of smoked ham, hints of salami. Taste is woody, leafy, smoky and caramel malty, mildly bitter hoppy, hints of smoked ham, a touch of smoked plum, subtle residual sweetness. Creamy-oily texture, smooth, soft, silky palate, fine and soft carbonation. Very clean, rather mild, surprisingly light - very good.

Bottle. Color: Copper, beige head. Aroma: Smoke, caramel, malty, some diacetyl. Taste: Caramel malt, clearly present smoke, notes of smoked meat. Smooth mouthfeel. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Over moderate sweet, light bitterness. Nomally I like Rauchbier, but this one has quite strong disattracting diacetyl (buttery, butterscotch, vanilla) unfortunately, otherwise this would have been a nice beer I think.

Deep brown colour, beige foam. Nose of smoked meat, caramel, some diacetyl. Taste is sweet, smokey, some iron and buttery notes. Not bad but the diacetyl is disturbing.

Bottle picked up from Biervana, München and consumed at home Attenkirchen, Sunday 2nd February 2020 whilst in the midst of a day of cooking, we've made Cream of Cauliflower Soup, Red Lentil and Tomato Soup, Granola, a large Hungarian Goulash, Roasted a Pork Joint and also making Potatoes and Smoked Garlic. We're listening to Balthazar - Rats. Think is excellent, smoke (lots of) but smooth and easy drinking. Sweet and even a little fish edge also some smoked honey. Glad I got a couple of these, this is great.

Bought at De Bierkoning Amsterdam. Smoked cheese and beechwood aroma. Full bodied, malty and thick. Fat smoked ham and beechwood in the flavor. Meaty. Pineapple hidden behind the smoke. Hint of licorice. Long smoky aftertaste like "Hemaworst" (Dutch smoked sausage). Great beer! The tap version, served at In De Wildeman, disappointed just a little, because of the vegetable notes shimmering through the smoke.
