750 ml corked & caged bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 12.8%. Dark brown colour, moderate to low beige head. Strong aroma of spices and herbs, spiced fruit cake, brown sugar, rye whisky and oak. Fairly sweet and very spicy flavour, loads of "christmassy" spices and bittering herbs, also brown sugar, rye whisky and moderate oak again. The big bottle is for sharing - this beer is more of a curiosity than something really great.

750 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 2/3/2016. Pours hazy very dark brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a spotty lace cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge lemon/orange peel, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, peppercorn, ginger, coriander, cherry, raisin, plum, apple, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toffee, vanilla, spicy rye, whiskey, toasted oak, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, spices, fruity yeast, and whiskey barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge lemon/orange peel, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, peppercorn, ginger, coriander, cherry, raisin, plum, apple, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toffee, vanilla, spicy rye, whiskey, toasted oak, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal bitterness and oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon/orange peel, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, peppercorn, ginger, coriander, cherry, raisin, plum, apple, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toffee, vanilla, spicy rye, whiskey, toasted oak, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, spices, fruity yeast, and whiskey barrel flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness. Light dryness from spiciness as well. Light-medium carbonation and full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warmth lingering after the finish, and minimal booziness. Overall this is an outstanding spiced strong ale style! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, spices, fruity yeast, and whiskey barrel flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the huge ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

09.04.2016, 0,75l bottle @ home:
Small slightly fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry spiced, kind of reminds me of Underberger; weeds, citrus peel, herbs, minerals, grass, flowers, alcohol, caramel, nuts, whiskey. Taste is slightly rich and dry, citrus peel, herbs, whiskey, rye, nuts, caramel, oak, almonds, minerals, grain, weeds, chocolate, grass, cola. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Very strange and interesting, but I like it.
