Nature is full of great collaborations. Take plants and pollinators for example - a symbiotic relationship that gives us fruits, vegetables and of course, honey. Although Stone and Deschutes have origins on near-opposite ends of the West Coast, our backyards are brought together in this hazy IPA brewed with equal parts Oregon blackberry honey and California orange blossom honey. A craft beer crosspollination, now available across the nation. Ain’t that sweet?

20/I/22 - 1Pt. can from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ home, BB: 27/VIII/22, canned: 27/VIII/21 08:20R (2022-86)

Pretty clear orange blond beer, small creamy dense yellowish to almost beige head, stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lovely, little floral, tropical fruit, juicy, mango, sweet impression, quite some honey indeed. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: tropical fruits, nice bitterness, citrus notes, bit sweet, juicy, resinous touch, sweaty feet, onions. Aftertaste: sweet and fruity, malty, nice bitterness, lots of oranges, orange peel, tropical fruits, good one, probably even better when fresh, another Stone beer that’s already +5M old by the time it’s hitting EU shops… :-(

From a 473ml can on 19/12/2021. Pours a slightly opaque deep golden with a biggish head. The nose is floral, honeyed with distinct citrus notes. The flavour is intense, with lots of sweet citrus, some caramel malt, and honey, with a quite firm, dry bitterness featuring citrus rind and zest, and more than a dash of spice. The mouthfeel is a touch syrupy , the carbonation moderate. Actually comes across bigger than 7.5%, almost a bit of a sipper. A quite singular experience and certainly not at all typical of the hazy style. Very well done.

Tall can from Brewcraft at home. Slightly translucent (“hazy” for Stone) orange amber pour with thin white head. Aroma is juicy berry and honey with some pine needles underneath. Nice. Taste is more classic west coast IPA, maybe tempered by some juiciness. Pine and citrus bitter, biscuity malt. Sweetness is there but not what you’d think for all the honey on the label. In a good way. Good straightforward IPA.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver, canned 26/08/21, 2.5 months ago
Cloudy dark blond colour, medium sized head. Very nice aroma, citrus fruit. Lean body, it's quite dry, mild malts, maybe a trace of caramel, and no oaty creaminess; bold hopping, mostly resinous, piney, and with bitter citrus peel; somehow astringent in the finish. Honey feeling in the end.
Hardly your typical Hazy. More West Coast than East Coast, but it's a hybrid. Very good.

473ml can. Pours a slightly hazy amber-gold with floaties and a medium, foamy, long lasting, white head that leaves soapy lacing. Sweet aroma of pale malt, grapefruit, orange, honey and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of pale malt, orange, grapefruit, apricot, pineapple, mango, pine resin, grass and spicy hops with a bit of alcohol heat in a dry, bitter finish. Medium body with a smooth, sticky, oily texture and soft carbonation. More west coast than hazy, but well balanced and tasty, whatever you want to call it.

Straightforward IPA, rather subdued considering the collaborators, but still a tasty beverage. Slight floral/sweet notes come from the honey, while the hops provide grapefruit, papaya, peach, and pineapple. Finishes with a touch of pine and mineral bitterness. Decent.
