Can from Beer52. Pours a dark brown with moderate sized beige head which reduces down to a nice top. Aroma of light roast, sweet malts, chocolate, hay. Good moderate body for a lager. Sweet malts, chocolate, brown sugar at first then a toasty bitterness comes in with a grassy and light floral tang in the finish. Very good again. Britain's best lager brewer?

440ml can from Hops & Crafts, quaffed following a ride at Stiperstones with Soph. Pours a very dark brown - lets say black for argument's sake. Large off-white head. Aroma brings soft roast, some chocolate. Flavour profile delivers prominent roasted malt with an appealing sweetness the melds chocolate and dark caramel, lingering bitter finish. Really nicely done.

Tap at the Topsham brewery Exeter. A clear mahogany chestnut brown coloured pour with a lasting beige head. Aroma is nutty malts, toasted chestnut, brown sugars, rye bread, rustic. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, layered malts, rye bread, charcoal, black liquorice. Palate is semi sweet, crisp, light spritzy carbonation. Nice stuff.

Hey, this is another one that frothed out all over when opened. A full glass of froth, and then even more coming out the can, when it was probably half empty. Anyways, can from Beer 52. Pours very dark reddish brown with a huge but transient cream (slightly yellow even) head. Malts and chocolate to the fore in the strong aroma. Liquorice, aniseed and molasses dominate vthe bitter flavour in the mouth, plus some malts and dark fruits lurking underneath. Finish is dry, bitter and sticky. This is outstanding – superb !

330ml can. Very dark brown with a thick foamy tan head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, a little grassy hop. There are more hops in the flavour, along with that same roasted malt and some dried fruit too finish

Foamy light beige head stayed on a dark reddish brown body. Malt, aniseed & roasted aroma. Medium bodied, smooth & soft with a slight tickle on the back & sticky aft. Malt, toffee, raisin, bready, nutty & roasted tastes with a sweeter fruity finish. Very nice......
