Deep amber in colour, a malt base of toffee, caramel, biscuit and toasted nuts; intermingles perfectly with a measured hoppiness giving notes of tangerine marmalade and citrus with a lasting and supreme finish of grapefruit zest bitterness.

Half-pint on tap at Euston Tap. Shared with Finn. Low beige head blanketing the upper part of the glass, misty amber body. Doughy malts on the nose, a biscuit scent to it. Blended taste of ripe citrus, toffee and biscuit. Malt-fruity end, bittersweet. Satisfying. (London 22.11.2021).

Pours a deep/dark amber, almost transparent but hazier on second pour. Slightest off-white head, big and quite dense; shows good retention and very nice lacing. Very nice aroma: a nice caramel, nutty and biscuity malts interplay, with citric notes (softly/sweetly citric, in the likes of citrus jam) on the back of things. An interesting and nicely clean aroma. Taste notes as per aroma, but while in the aroma the maltiness was more pronounced, the citric notes take a slight lead in taste. Plus, the taste felt a bit less bright/defined than the aroma. Taste balance is medium sweetness and slightly below medium bitterness, with a slight sweet edge in the mouth and a nicely balanced, clean finish. Light to medium bodied with low to medium carbonation, a very classic sessionable mouthfeel. A quite modern interpretation of the style (especially if compared to their standard bitter, which was much more classic), and undoubtedly a well made beer.

Can. Nose is surprisingly tropical, caramel, almost fudge, toffee. Taste is malty, leading to a pronounced and unexpected grapefruit, leading to toffee, bunt sugar, pine, earthy, big marmalade.

On Tap (keg) in The Pheasant, Wellington Shropshire; 4th May 2021. Dark amber body, off-white crown. Malty little number, semi-sweet with both toffee and caramel aromas/flavours, liked it.
