Brewed with big, bold hops this beer will spark your taste buds. Lakota was first brewed in 2017, and now the Brewers have perfected the recipe for cask ale. Packed with Apollo, Bravo and Cascade hops this beer is beautifully aromatic but well balanced and of course; sessionable.

Lakota is back, now available in cask & with a new look to match. This beer is brewed with a blend of American yeast & the Joule’s house strain.

Cask @ Cock Hotel, Wellington. Golden amber pour, white head. Sour, old dishwater flannel nose which did not bode well for the initial sip, which brought similar sour, off notes. The note next to the pumpclip of last chance to try this suggests it was perhaps the end of the barrel. Brought it back, and the replacement beer was also off. Not impressed.

Cask at Rose and Crown, Stafford. Pours golden maber with a small foamy off-white head and good lacing. The aroma has oranges (mainly) and autumn fruits. In the mouth it is very briefly sweet before some bitterness comes through. Anyway, smooth and juicy with floral hops, lemon / lime marmalade and hints of nuts and melon. Finish is quite bitter with a little stickiness. Nice and refreshing though the finish lets it down a bit. Not massively hoppy but who’s arguing ?

Clear and golden with a nice frothy white head and a messy aroma of bitter hops and sweetish malt. Mouthfeel is very slightly grainy and the taste is mildly bitter fruit, some floral notes and a sweet biscuit malt underlying it all, not unpleasant but weird if I'm honest

Keg, half-pint at the brewery on 26th Jan 2019. Amber hue to the golden body; full white crown on my pour. Very cold on delivery, so the aroma was poor at first, some malty sweetness and tropical fruit esters arrived as it warmed a little in the glass. Expected more form an 'Arizona Pale', not enough hop action really; decent malty base but lacked a true 'cutting edge' from the hop content.

Keg at the Old Horse, Leicester. Attractive golden brown with a well-proportioned white head. Very light aroma: a bit resiny and malty but there’s also a touch of sweat. Not a lot of flavour either. A touch of bittersweet but it’s fairly watery. I can taste more of the beer I had before than I can of this one. Nicely carbonated with some apricot in the aftertaste. It’s ok, not terrible but certainly boring and non-descript.
