Four Kisses or XXXX as it was known locally, was a very sought after thirst quenching ale. Popular with the typical gentleman drinkers, it also gained quite a reputation in the late 1950’s with females alike carrying a novel expression of ’four kisses for the missus’. This modern expression is golden amber with a fragrance of woody forest berries. Smooth biscuity malt flavours mature to a rounded nutty and lightly spiced end.

5th Oct 2018, cask, hand-pulled half-pint at The Crown Inn, Oakengates Shropshire during their 45th Beer Festival (they have two a year). Golden bodied, white head. Hedgerow fruits in the nose and initial taste, becomes sweeter as it warms a little in the glass, nice.
