Joe-Joe’s Cookie Stout pours a deep, dark mahogany brown with a creamy brown head and presents a bold aroma of chocolate maltiness, roasted grains and a slight hint of milky sugars. The beer is slightly sweet up front with a cocoa butter nuttiness and dark biscuit middle. The slight bitterness on the back end is nicely balanced with a lingering malty sweetness. It is brewed with Nugget hops, a variety of malts and, of course, Joe-Joe’s Cookies.

22oz bottle, from the local Trader Joe's. Poured a nearly pitch black color with a medium sized, off-white head. Aroma was some light chocolate wafer cookie, I suppose. Some vanilla character here too. Flavor was roasted malts, chocolate, some coffee. A touch thin, but drinkable, and a pretty decent price point.

Got this at my local TJ's in January, and they're already out, it seems. The beer pours a black coffee body under a tan head. The smell has a bit of mocha java at the start, and there’s still a note of hop bitterness. I find it has a lighter stout taste than standard. Even though they did not use the cookie filling in the brew kettle, but I’d have thought they might have put some extra sweetness or vanilla in there. This is a slightly sweet stout, do doubt, and the vanilla impression is of a bitter vanilla extract, while the malt handles the sweetness. S\omewhat hearty and filling, not the least because it comes, or came, in a 22 oz. bomber bottle.

Bomber from Trader Joe's in Davis, CA. Pours dark brown with a large, creamy tan head. Aroma seems chocolate - there's a touch of something "sharp". Think I'm getting dark malt too. Med body or so. Flavor is something like a chocolate cookie. Especially the "aftertaste". Like the outside of an oreo without the filling. It's far from dry, and not really very bitter. Call it balanced. Actually rather satisfying overall.

Pours mahogany tinged black into a shaker. Mocha head with little retention recedes to skim surface. Cocoa aromas. Sweet cocoa and vanilla upfront turning to sour espresso in the medium length finish.

17th Dec 2017, Bomber at my daughters in California, bottle obtained from a Trader Joe's store near her place. Black bodied, tanned head, looked good in a La Chouffe tulip glass on each pour. Not as sweet as I expected to be honest, plenty of coffee and chocolate notes within and certainly malty in nature. I ate some Cookies with the beer and they suited each other nicely. Fairly bitter finish with a cola like body depth (without too much 'fizz').

Bomber from Trader Joe's, Charlottesville. I don't know the actual cookie, so unfortunately I can't say how much it tastes like that. Pours dark brown, nearly black with a frothy beige head. Aroma is sweet caramel and chocolate. Flavor is sweet caramel, light roasted malt, some chocolate, hint of coffee that linger in the finish. Not great but not bad.
