Cask at the Wagon & Horses during Black Country Bus Tour. Pours clear brown with a creamy white head. Nose of sweet brown bread. Light sweet flavor with wet leaves, light cocoa, some earth. Light in body with fine carbonation. Sweet on the finish with mellow cocoa and toasted leaves. Decent.

Cask at the wagon and horses. Black country bus beer bash. Chestnut brown with a thin white head. Nutty twiggs aroma. Thinish watery palate. Not much going o, but pleasant enough.

Hand-pulled half-pint on 6 Jun 2013 in the excellent ’Crown Inn’ Oakengates. Good looking beer: mahogany body, almost bright, on top a full, smooth off-white foam for a head. Malty nose and taste: weak body depth, but it is a 3.4% Mild after all. Those aforementioned malts were roasted/toasted and semi-sweet, a hoppy dryness underpins the whole brew and ensure this isn’t just a malty mess. Overall fine: ideal for a quick lunchtime half if driving (which is why I only had a half).

Cask at the Claude du Vall (JDW), Camberley. An attractive reddish tawny colour with a dense tan head; aroma of mollasses and nutty roasted malts; rather thin in the mouth, with some weak red fruit, and a dry smoky, woody, body; leading to some coffee grounds and a dry tingly bitter finish. Unusual and surprisingly good.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag ONails, Bristol 22/04/09. Reddish-amber with a slight, off-white head. Light aroma of red fruit with a touch of caramel. Flavour had some sweetness, before a touch of cherry and a slight bitter finish. An ok mild.
