Irish Stout

Bottle shared at The Cad’s 10 year get together. 29/03/2015. Thanks to Ian, Dark black / brown coloured pour with a lasting creamy tan head. Aroma is musty sour, plumy dusty, infected. Flavour is composed of airy coco powder, musty, dusty, old roast. Palate is thin and watery. Not good.

Flaska från Saveur Bieré. Smak och doft av choklad, kaffe, soja, tobak, rostad malt med toner av lakrits. Rund och len, fin smakkombination, lätt kropp, fadd, lagom sötma, fin beska.

Bottle shared at the Cad’s 10th Anniversary Tasting - CBC Clerkenwell, London. Thanks to Ian. Pours dark brown with a tight, creamy tan head. The nose holds tangy dark fruits, toast. Light sweet flavor with dried fruits, leafy hops, earth, mellow cocoa. Light bodied with average carbonation. Lightly smokey on the finish with simple cocoa, toasted leaves and light bready sugars. So so.

Bottle at The Cad’s 10 yr Shindig. Thanks to Ian. It pours near black with a thick tan head. The nose is earthy, rich roast, coffee, cocoa and mild acidity. The taste is smooth, rich roast, charred stuff, ash, earth, coffee and dark chocolate with a dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Not a whole lot to it, but it is slick and rather drinkable. Decent.

From tap at La Capsule in Lille, with KL, AKH and GH. Almost black. Diminishing brown head. Moderate aroma and taste of roasted malt, dark brittle and a hint of smoke. A bit waterish.

bottle from saveur-biere. Hazy deep brown, almost black, with a medium-sized beige head, quite fluffy. Roasted malts all over the palate, sahy chocolatey hints. Light yet full of flavour. Good, good stuff.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Lively out of the bottle and had to pour quickly into the glass. Black beer thick thick tan head and the aroma of dark chocolate pervades the room. A bit like something like Goachers Crown Imperial Stout a low ABV stout. Some roast some dark chocolate a little bit of newspsper, not much hop. OK.
