Cask at the hanging bat. Pours black with a thick tan head. Aromas of milky coffee, light chocolate. Taste is coffee. Light roasted bitter finish. Bit thin.

Keg at BD Sheps B. It pours darkest ru brown with a small tan head. The nose is smooth, toasty, roasted malt, weak smoke, earth and coffee. The taste is bitter, roasty, mild acidity, dark fruits, toasty, charred stuff, light astringency, ash, earth, umami, liquorice and cocoa with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty savoury stuff. A touch of sweetness wouldn’t go a miss.

Tap. Rutland Arms, Sheffield. Just about black. Thick, creamy, sticky, lasting, light brown head. Looks great. Lovely bonfire toffee nose to this. Vanilla. Milk chocolate. Some nuttiness in there, too. The whole shebang. Taste is roasty dry, with a nutty smooth bitterness. Lots of body. Slick mouthfeel. Finish has a brown sugar sweetness, with that nutty bitterness right at the end. These keg Moor beers are really drinkable. Lovely.

Keg at Spit/Fire. Black body with a thick tan head. Lots of sticky lacing. Aroma of coffee and caramel. Flavour of dark chocolate, bitter coffee and blood orange. Medium body with a creamy texture. Fizzy. Excellent depth.

Bottle from Brewer’s Droop, Bristol. Near black with a decent, beige, head. Pleasantly roasted malts, some plain chocolate and a hint of leafy hop. before a dryish, toasty finish. Enjoyable.
