Quite simply, the way it should be - roasty wholesemness flowing throughout an incredibly rich body.

Can: Poured a deep black charcoal with light brown. Aroma is nice chocolate. Taste is rich chocolate and roast malty.

Tap. Opaque black color with beige head. Aroma is milk chocolate, leathery, rather sweet overall. Taste is milk chocolate, classic English Stout goodness. Oily mouthfeel with fine-bubbled carbonation. Good!

Lovely. Typical, traditional English stout. Got that lovely Moor roast in it which I love. Great mouthfeel, especially considering the ABV, wheat helps I reckon. Flavors are very roasted toasted coffee, nicely dry, a hint of dark chocolate. Something medicinal hiding in the background, though, reminding me of nose drops or throat medicine.

Appearance- black, with a small foamy beige head. Aroma- roast malt, lots of coffee, dark chocolate, chocolate biscuit, caramel, hops. Taste- lots of chocolate and coffee, dark roasty malt, smooth chocolate, bitter hop traces, more roast malt. Nice full mouthfeel.

33cl can from the Beer52 box for August. A glossy black pour with a ring of beige head; pleasant toasted grain aroma; slightly oily in the mouth with some fruity coffee flavours ; then a dry toasty finish. Nothing spectacular, but a nicely made, very drinkable stout.

On tap at the Southampton Arms deep dark brown black, with a thin chunky brown head. A British stout, dry light bodied and roasty. Smooth and warm and barley carved. Very nice

Black beer, basically no head once it settled. Aroma and taste are along the same lines: dry malt with some bitter coffee. There's a bit of tangy fruit in there too to balance it out. It's not anything particularly notable but it's a very drinkable stout all the same.
