Mooi bier.

Winter beer by Atrium, a darker and less strong version of its own 2020 predecessor; can shared by tderoeck, cheers Tim! Regularly shaped, creamy, moussy, yellowish beige head, hazy burgundy brown robe with vermillion-reddish glow. Aroma of caramel candy, bubblegum, cashew nuts, milk powder, sugared tea, pear drops, vague liquorish, gin, rainwater. Sweet onset but not in a cloying way, brown-sugary like a dubbel or (even more so) a quadrupel, with bubblegummy banana ester and hints of plum and pear candy, medium carbonated; slick mouthfeel, sweet-sourish edge not unlike condensed milk, caramelly core with brown-bready and toffeeish aspects. Very light toasty touch at the back, but the sweetness dominates, spiced with a pinch of phenolic clove perhaps, remaining low in hoppiness and drawing more bitterness from the toasted malt aspect. Bittersweetish, warming, caramelly and bubblegummy finish with that condensed milk-like element lingering. Intended to evoke ‘dulce de leche’ and indeed the main flavours of it shine through in this beer – but with pastry-inspired concepts like this, people sometimes forget the ‘beery’ aspect too much and this one lacks a bit of structure, balancing bitterness and body for me.

18/VIII/22 - 33cl can from De Caigny (Essen), shared @ Alengrin’s place, BB: X/2024, L044/21 (2022-1017)

Little cloudy dark brown beer, big creamy beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very malty, grains, caramel, yeasty, lots of overripe banana, alcohol, more yeast. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: weird, pretty bitter, banana, spicy, yeasty, alcohol notes, bitter, more alcohol, tastes like a quadruppel. Aftertaste: a little bitter, ripe banana, mocha, coffee, bitter, more roast, caramel notes, ok but not great.

Dark brown with thin head. Aroma of bready malts and some caramel. Luckily this is not too sweet. There's a caramel note but there's a slight burnt bitter edge. Surprisingly well balanced.

18 December 2021. 6th Anniversary and Christmas Beer Evening with the lovely Anke!

Can from Geers. Hazy dark brown, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of mocha, biscuit, cinnamon, caramel, date, custard, clove, granola, liqueur, pistachio. Taste has sweet date, fig & plum in a caramelly, biscuity malt body with spicy clove accents, and an oaty note. Herbal hoppy finish with creamy vanilla, biscuit, dried fruit and warming brandy-like alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. There's lactose of course but it's rather sweet and 'creamy' for a Brown Ale. Still definitely a good drink.

33cl can, BB10/2024.
Acajou, col fin blanc-cassé.
Arôme sur un nez malté, caramel, léger chocolaté - levure belge avec malts offrant un bouquet fruité sur fruits des bois, fruits noirs et secs. Note de douceur en rétro - effet lactose.

33cl can from Etre Gourmet web shop. F: medium, tan, not long lasting. C: dark brown with coppery hue against the light, hazy. A: a lot of roasted tones, caramel, cokies, maple syrup, dried figs, molasses. T: full malty base, dried fruits, caramel, dates, molasses, bit leaves, vinous touch, bit herbal, something like pastry imperial brown ale all together, soft carbonation, very nice winter evening sipper, fully enjoyed.
