Retro review from Spring 2012 Wetherspoons Beer festival; decent approximation of a traditional English bitter. Pale brown some hops with a bitter end.

Bottle. Deep and clear purplish amber color, off white head, solid lacing. Aroma of lightlyspiced prunes and plums. Taste is bitter plums, caramel. Nice.

Hazy amber brown beer. Dry crisp palate. Rich nutty malt. Surprisingly light hop, barely there. Does have a bitter aftertaste. Tasty but a tad too dry.

Bottle from Ica. Pours clear light amber golden with a large white head. Malty aroma with caramel, spices and a hint of citrus. Sweet and malty with a good bitterness. Finish is a bit dry and bitter. Slightly hoppy and bitter aftertaste that doesn’t last very long. A nice and refreshing session beer. Batch: #688

500ml bottle. Cloudy, muddy dark yellow to copper with proper white head. Yeasty, strawy almost mouldy aroma with a lemon overtone. Fresh lemon sourness, dry yeasty and hoppy finish, slightly fizzy.

0,5 l. bottle, batch nr. 558. Enjoyed with a pasta dish. Clear, light copper colour with a small, white head that lasted throughout. A lot of classic English hops here: Hay, grass and a rustic citrus note. Taste is very refreshing, light bitter with a sweeter, more caramel-like note. Light to medium bodied with a lively carbonation that gives a prickly sensation on the palate. Medium length bitter finish. Very good food pairing as promised on the label - good example of this style.
