Black malt gives roast aroma and taste and the Pale malt contributes a sweet biscuity note. Delicious cane sugar and caramel adds more sweetness. At 7.4% abv this beer is very full bodied, sweet and warming. Challenger hops give a fresh dry hop character and moderate bitterness and the Goldings adds a more aromatic and spicy note giving quite a complex beer. Rich, warming and satisfying.

Bottle. Dark mahagony with a nice little white/beige head. Aroma of red fruits, malts and zest. Taste of malts, red fruits, caramel and some honey with a herbal and earthy finish. Low bitterness. Medium carbonation. Very balanced. Yes, I did enjoy this one.

Sweet, caramel flavor with very little hop bitterness. Rich and thick. Very slight weird flavor that I can’t identify mixed with the other flavors. What I think a Wee Heavy should be.

Bottle (18 295) pour from Total Wine & More, Burlington. Appearance is clear, red-dark amber with light sparkle, finger-width beige head that quickly fades to a cap with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is fig and dark fruit over caramel malts. Taste follows aroma with addition of generalized nuttiness and earthy/dusty European hops/malts. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture, soft carbonation and dry finish as taste. Overall, about what you'd expect--a good representative of the style.

33 cl bottle at El Apóstol, Madrid. A dark reddish pour with a nice tan head. Aroma is strawberry, redcurrant, cookies. Soft on the tongue but strong on the palate, not long-lingering.
