  IPA - Rye Regular
Score
7.28
ABV: 8.1% IBU: - Ticks: 30
Why Not is a double IPA brewed with 20% UK rye malt. We added piney hops Simcoe and Chinook in the whirlpool which marry with the spiciness of the rye. For a more tropical touch, we dry hopped with Moteuka, Galaxy, and Cryo Simcoe to bring the hops bursting into the foreground. But there is no hiding the rye here as the beer has a copper/amber appearance, and coming in at 8.1% ABV it has a full body and big finish. Why Not will remind you of an old school Rye DIPA with an upgrade to today’s hazy/double dry-hopped expectations.

Awesome dark malty very malty great bitter hoppy balanced aroma, sweet nutty, quite complex, one of the best rye ipa aromas as far as i can remeber, so malty that hops bring sweetness/floweryness and malts bring bitternes. wow aroma.. flavor is very malty, rye, sweet, with a good hoppy balance. so much flavor that the 8.1 abv never really reveals itself. end is, however, a tiny bit herbal hoppy, i would have preferred more straight old-scool us style hopping. i like rye ipa in the first place and this one is very very good.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Herbarium. Rye DIPA, ABV is 8.1%. Murky orange to brown colour, LOADS of yeast and protein floaties in the glass, looks awful. Small head, slightly off-white. Aroma of American West Coast hops, notes of orange marmalade and pine, hints of rye bread. The medium sweet flavour is malty with hints of rye bread again, also notes of piney and grapefruity hops, but the bitterness is moderate.

Can. An unclear orange colored beer topped by a minimalistic off-white head. The aroma is a bit alcoholic, mostly fruity though, with peach, pine cones and a generic tropical fruityness. Some peppery maltyness too. It's full-bodied, warming and quite sweet on the palate, with a soft carbonation. Sweet malts, peppery hints, peach, pine cones and some tropical fruit. Lasting finish. Way too sweet this one. Lots of good flavors though. 220417

Draught @ Fox & Hounds, Sønderborg. Pours cloudy amber with stable off-white head. Clear aroma of citrus and hops, with malty and estery touches and fruity notes. Bitter flavour of hops and citrus, with sweetish notes of tropical fruit and malt and estery touches. Fruity and citric aftertaste with hoppy and estery touches. Well-balanced, tasty, and satiating. Good work, Lervig!
