12oz bottle. Deep dark coffee aroma. Big, sweet, malty. The barrel is there, but more or less sweetened over. Rich and heavy, but not hot or boozy...downright drinkable which is strange for the ABV. Really nice interplay between the malts, coffee, barrel. Good stuff.

Roast and lots of coffee. Caramel, chocolate and some barrel. Miles better than Dark Lord, but I think that about most other 3 Floyds stouts. Bitter end, nice body. Some caramel sweetness and booze on the finish as well. Tap at Dominion Wine and Beer.

12 ounce bottle from DeCicco’s in Armonk, NY. Vigorous pour into a large snifter. Dark brown color is topped by a dark tan head that quickly dissipates to a small ring. Aroma is largely espresso, dark chocolate and oak. Flavor is intense, with notes on cold brewed espresso, unsweetened dark chocolate and huge booziness. As the brew warms, flavors of vanilla, bourbon and charcoal emerge. There are some resiny pine notes on the palate, but the underlying espresso presence resonates from start to finish.

Bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a pitch black with a finger of brown head that lingers. Deep coffee and espresso aromas on the nose with dark chocolate and milk chocolate mixed. A touch of treacle underneath. Oak, vanilla, bourbon, coffee and dark chocolate on the palate. Drying finish with coffee, peppery rye-like notes alongside warming bourbon, vanilla and oak. So good. One of those rare cases where each year the beer gets better seemingly.
