330ml bottle @ final beer tasting, Chez Sophie, Aug 24. Pours misty pale brown, not much head remaining. Unsure what pastry this is aiming to be. Strange swirls of caramel latte, vanilla, Chantilly cream, dried apricot, amber malt, demarara sugar, but not quite coming together in a seemless manner, light bodied. Not digging this.

Monday 5th August 2024, the last Minutemat led Shrewsbury Beer Gathering, five guys, loads of beer and bollox. Cheers Mike for the Out Of Date 33cl bottle of this. Moody brown body, wispy top. Strange Pumpkin spicy nose and taste, didn't take to it at all.

330ml bottle [courtesy of Grumbo - cheers Graham, European champion!]. Cloudy, dark brown colour with ruby shimmer and small, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, dark beige head. Sweet-ish, nutty, dark malty aroma, notes of nougat, toffee, some milk chocolate, a touch of caramel. Taste is sweet-ish, nutty, caramel and dark malty, mildly bitter hoppy, notes of nougat, toffee, some coffee; lingering, mildly bitter hoppy finish. Slightly creamy texture, smooth and soft palate, fine and soft carbonation. Fine composition, balanced, not too sweet - very nice Pastry ale.

Bottle bought at Grumpy Goat, Reading. Opaque chestnut brown. Thick foamy beige head. Medium bitter. Burnt caramel and coffee. Treacle. Malty streak. Light bodied. Thin. Sticky. Fizzy carbonation. Long dry finish. Flavoursome interesting Brown Ale. Not the sweet insipid stuff you can get.

330ml bottle bought at Beautiful Beers. Shared with Finn, Travelodge session. Decent beige head over a deep dark brown body, fair lacing. Smell of nutshell and toffee. Quite well blended taste of nutty caramel and biscuit. Rater sweet ending, nuts and caramel. Fine depth. Satisfying (Hotel room, Cambridge 14.11.2021).

330ml bottle as part of a delivery from Beautiful Beers and drunk at home. Reddish chocolate brown with a ring of beige/khaki head. Delicious smell of chocolate brownies with a sickly medicinal joke creeping in. Sweet taste is almost immediately ruined by something sour and a bit vomits. Long medicinal and unpleasant finish. Not sure this is right, especially reading the other rates. There's a good beer in here somewhere but I'm not finding it tonight.

Panda at home, thanks to SHIG, 30/08/21. Rich mahogany brown pour that thins to a beige swirl. Nose is fruit cake mix, dusty brown sugars, cocoa, toffee, dates, raisins. Taste comprises chocolate, caramel, hint of booze, brown sugars, fruit slice, dark malts, light spice, dried red berries. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent flavoursome affair for the style.
