Dessert please! Ook dit jaar sluiten we af met een volle Pastry Stout. We hebben ons ondergedompeld in winterse smaken van gevulde speculaas. Een vloeibaar dessert om jezelf mee te verwennen. Dit toetje kun je toch niet afslaan?!
Naam
We nemen je mee naar de middeleeuwen. Veel ambachtslieden waren aangesloten bij een gilde, een vereniging van mensen die hetzelfde beroep uitoefenden. Om lid te worden maakten ambachtslieden een meesterstuk als proeve van bekwaamheid. Dit werk werd beoordeeld op basis van vaardigheden, techniek en creativiteit. Ter ere van Sint Maarten, de beschermheilige van het Haarlemse brouwersgilde, brouwen we jaarlijks een Meesterstuk

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Sweet with a big 'speculaas' aroma. Candy sugar, cinnamon, dark malt, more spicy notes, some liquorice and caramel. Body is above medium. Pretty sweet, but a nice sipper.

Bottle from Daily Delis, Amsterdam. Hazy black, small, tan head. Aroma of speculoos, cinnamon, clov,e milk chocolate, mocha, marzipan, liqueur. Taste has sweet chocolate & speculoos surrounded by spicy cinnamon & gingerbread against a toasty malt backbone. Peppery hops in the finish, lots of spices lingering, a hint of coffee and warming liqueur-like alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation. Pretty good, but not necessarily shocking anymore, at least for a 'Meesterstuk' series.

Bottle, 11.11% in celebration of my 20th Ratebeer anniversary. Distinct cinnamon/cardamom or speeculaas aroma. Very dark brown colour with a red shine. Seems unclear. Small light brown head. The flavour is sweet, but not too sweet, and nicely spicy. Cardamom flavour, cinnamon, speculaas. Good bready flavour that goes well with the pungent spices. Roasted coffee finish, not bitter at all, but bordering on aniseed or salt liquorice.

Bottle. Pours cloudy very dark brown with airy tan head. Clear aroma of winter spices with notes of chocolate, malt, caramel, and yeast. Bitter, roasty flavour with notes of ginger, cinnamon, cloves, malt, cake and yeast. Bitter and caramellish aftertaste with spicy touches. A real teddy bear treat. Yummy.

Keg at jopenkerk. Pours black, nose is chocolate, raisin, vanilla, cinnamon, taste is similar, a hint of tonka in there.

On tap at Gollem Craft Beers - Amstelstraat, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is very sweet and dessert-like, with cocoa, burnt sugars, and caramel. Flavour is very sweet, with intense burnt caramel, cocoa and burnt sugars. Not much body or depth to this, just tasty dessert adjuncts. Pleasant.
