Characterised by its firm and fine pored head. Even before the first sip, the beer epicure will register the soft aromas of dark malt carrying caramel and cocoa accents with a nuance of smokiness.

Andechser Export Dunkel is pleasantly tangy with a full, round, malty body. The nuance of quality plain chocolate marries well with the soft bitterness of the smoky undertone.

It concludes on a mild, harmonious note (12.5% original extract and 4.9% alcohol by volume).

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Aroma dry and dusty. Flavor is malty and a little bit fruity, not too dry. Good beer!

Draft version. A clear deep dark dunkel with a thick creamy white head. A pleasant caramel aroma, with fruity notes, dried fruits, and alcohol. In mouth, a nutty caramel malt with light burned notes, a bit smokey. Medium bodied, lightly oily mouthfeel. On tap at Dr. Flotte, Oct. 17 2007, 2.20 euros for 330 mL.

Dark foxy-amber beer with a yellowish, initially thick-set head, slowly collapsing; Very bready nose, a bit nutty, and I seem to get a touch of alcohol aroma. Bread & breadcrust dominate, though. In the taste, we get a true "Fastenfrühstück" with coffee, and lean, dry brown bread. In the finish we discover that a little lump of sugar had been added, and even a dash of skimmed milk. There were also some hazelnuts from last autumn. Rahter thinnish, but seems to fill in gradually. It’s not unattractive. Really one for the Lent.

Pours a copper colour, quite pale for a dunkel (at least in my expieriance). A sweet aroma but an almost salty, quite smokey flavour. Quite different from any other beer I’ve tried.
