Export Dunkel

Klosterbrauerei Andechs in Andechs, Bavaria, Germany 🇩🇪

Lager - Dunkel / Tmavý Regular
Score
6.82
ABV: 4.9% IBU: - Ticks: 128
Characterised by its firm and fine pored head. Even before the first sip, the beer epicure will register the soft aromas of dark malt carrying caramel and cocoa accents with a nuance of smokiness.

Andechser Export Dunkel is pleasantly tangy with a full, round, malty body. The nuance of quality plain chocolate marries well with the soft bitterness of the smoky undertone.

It concludes on a mild, harmonious note (12.5% original extract and 4.9% alcohol by volume).

Bottle. Brown color with a large creamy good lacing off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. A rather good, and refreshing, dunkel.

Bottled(500ml). -Reddish brown coloured, medium sized beige head, mild roasted malt nose. Bitter roasted aroma of malts and hops with notes of nuts and smoke. Some weak caramel notes in the finish. In comparison with Doppelbock Dunkel quite weak and watery.

Test vom 19.9.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,11,13,11,12,12 - 11,45

Bottle: Reddish-amber coloured, medium-sized fluffy off-white head, quickly diminishing; sweet, dark-malty nose with a tinge of molasses and some fruitiness; sweetish flavour with the faintest idea of bitterness, medium bodied; sweet-fruity and malty finish. A pleasant, well rounded brew, but nothing spectacular.......

(bottle) Clear ruby brown coloured and slightly effervescent hue with a nice foamy tanned head with slow lacing. Decent toastmalty aroma with bread crusts, chocolate and caramel. Mild bitter flavour, medium body, well-carbonated smooth mouthfeel. Moderate sweet toastmalty taste with caramel, chocolate and light fruity notes of dark berries; balanced medium sweet malty and spicy bitter hoppy finish with liquorice.

500 ml bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. ABV is 4.9%. Typical dunkel clear reddish brown colour, very good and lingering light tan head. Very nice aroma of moderately roasted malts, flaked nuts, caramel and bakery. Flavour is malty and nutty with notes of dark bread and caramel, not too sweet. German dunkels are not "big" beers, but are, when well made, a truly enjoyable drinking experience. This is one of them.
