0,44l from can at the brewpub. BB 27.09.2022. Black color, small coffee colored head. SMELLS of soy sauce, toffee, berry notes, marzipan, nutty. Decent smell. Full body, no carbonation. Tastes soy sauce, marzipan, nutty, cocoa, light cocoa liqueur. Finishes lightly sweet with notes of cocoa, marzipan and some soy sauce notes. Did not like this much at first, lots and lots of soy sauce (judging by BB date this could be a tad old). Gets a lot more marzipan and cocoa forward when warm. Nice overall

Can from Lidl Supermarket, Todmorden. Black with a small off-white head. Strong alcohol nose, and strong in taste, although perhaps a little less so as some roasted malt character is evident here - still boozy though.

Can from Lidl, Harrow Weald at a mere £2.50. Dark brown to black. Lots of chocolate, black coffee, a light roasty note, and a touch of blackcurrant. The alcohol is evident but not overly so. Really nice mouthfeel and surprisingly drinkable for the strength. Better than many beers that certain overhyped breweries are selling at 3 or 4 times the price.

Incredible value can from Lidl Inverurie. It pours jet black with a dark tan head, which dissipates. The aroma is rich roasted, dark chocolate, umami, tarry, liquorice, earthy, coffee grounds and a touch of pipe tobacco. The taste is bitter - sweet, rich roasted malt, slick, toothy, chewy, dark chocolate, cacao, earthy, dark roast coffee grounds, toasty, slight charred, umami, liquorice and only a wee kick of alcohol with a rich, chewy roasted finish. Medium to fulsome body and average carbonation. Funny to thinks it's almost novel to have a straight forward non adjunct imperial stout. Works well. Could drink by the pint, but probably wouldn't be my best plan. Solid stuff and brilliant value.

Creamy tan head stayed on a near black still body. Dark chocolate & bitter roasted aroma. Medium bodied, creamy with a short clean back. Chocolate, liquorice, malt & sweet jam tastes with a tangy citrus finish. Good one.

440ml can. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a short-lived, frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, light toffee caramel. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, rich, slightly oily, roasty, liqourice, light toffee fudge, chocolate, coffee, light dry pepper spice palate. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.

440ml can from LIDL in Uxbridge. A black coloured pour with a healthy beige head on top. Roasty, malty, liquorice, dark chocolate aroma, tastes similar, quite rich and sweet. This was surprisingly good and great that you can get an imperial stout of this quality in LIDL.
