Clear red/brown pour with a tiny tan head. Aromas of cherries, raisins/ red wine, grain/wheat, oranges, cloves. Taste is wheat, banana, spice (what you would expect from a Weizen), but chocolate, red wine, brandy/cognac. Quite a boozy finish.

0.33 l bottle from 'Rudat', best before December 2027. Clear, very dark ruby, barely any head. Sweetish-malty, gently yeasty-spicy, slightly fruity aroma of raisins, prunes, overripe banana, candied cherry, molasses and brandy. Heavily sweet, big malty, moderately yeasty-spicy and gently fruity taste of molasses, raisins, prunes, candied cherry, brandy, vanilla, overripe banana and some chocolate, followed by a short, moderately bitter, actually just slightly boozy finish. Full body, oily mouthfeel, almost flat. Great concentrated Weizenbock, sticky and saturating, not even nearly as boozy as expected. Didn't expect much, got surprised even more. Lovely beer.

Swing-top bottle. Chyba najslabszy pszeniczny kozlak.

Doppelweizenbock of sorts – that is to say, as interpreted by this highly unusual German Schorsbräu project, once responsible for the strongest beer ever made without addition of actual alcohol. Thanks to Jan for sharing at Tim’s place; comes from a stone pitcher with swingtop in this case. Off-white, thin and open, loose head, quickly dissolving under influence of the alcohol on a dark chestnut brown beer with warm mahogany glow. Aroma of molten caramel, brandy, cola, port sauce, muscovado sugar, old madera, oxidized molasses, sweet sherry. Thick sweet onset yet somehow much less thick than expected; raisins and candied dates, soft carb if any at all, heavy vinous body still maintaining souplesse and drinkability. Deeply caramelly and toffeeish malts with brown-bready edge, herbal notes of thyme and clove, sweet cola and candied fig at the back, some very vague toasty bitterishness tucked away in the finish – and of course, a lot of warming, rum- and madera-like alcohol. Sweet, syrupy, intense and boozy as expected, but still this huge beer manages to somehow maintain drinkability and went down a lot easier than I was expecting. Schorsbräu at its least unrefined, I presume…

Clear to little cloudy brown beer, no head. Aroma: very malty, grains, soft roast, caramel touch, lots of cow fodder, bit yeasty, some overripe banana. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet, malty, lots of caramel, bit sweet, grains, hay, cow fodder, meh.

LCRBM2: Hoppy, dusty aroma. Sweet (too sweet) flavor with tropical fruit and the slightest hint of smoke. This beer banged in on already tired tastebuds, so I’ll have to re-rate this sooner or later. Re-rate: july 2008 Swing top bottle. Grapes, melon and mango in the aroma. Sugary sweet, peppery flavor with salty notes. Very fruity, especially tropical fruit, like mango and pineapple. The alcohol is there, but not too obvious, because of the fruit and the sweetness. Raised the rating from 2.6.

Bottle. Dark brown color, creamy foam. Good aroma: sweet, butterscotch, dried banana, caramel, other dried fruits, chocolate. Sweet taste: caramelized banana, dried fruits, sherry, soft, warming, very good,

Hazy deep brown. Small head. Aroma: tonnes of dried fruit, esters, banana, vinous, bit spicy. Full body. Soft carbonation. Taste: light sweet, powerful, malty, fruity, vinous. I wish the ending had just a little bitterness. Still, this is a nice weizenbock. Largely underrated.

0,33 l swing top bottle from our local Metro market. A darkest brown in the glass, no head. Like a Coke without carbonation. Fruity boozy smell. Taste starts dark berriefruity, some malt, increasing toasted, sticky sweetness, figs. Damenlikör. Hey, definitive warming and not as bad as expected.

Opaque dark brown colour, almost no foam which disappears quickly, no lacing. Aroma roasted malts, liquorice, dark fruits syrup, alcohol. Taste heavy sweet and light sourish notes, malty, fruity (black currants, sweet cherries, plum), syrupy. Aftertaste as in taste, full-bodied, sticky texture, flat carbonation. Strange brew, alcohol well-hidden, decent but too one-dimensional.
