Bottle, thanks for all the bottles Todd. I thoroughly enjouyed this one in you backyard and we really enjoyed it at the first Garching Ratebeer meeting! Toffee, light iodine, vanilla, coffee. Almost black, low head. Dry body, dark chocolate, wood, whisky, berries, vanilla and spirit aftertaste. Great.

2012 bottle with jfb and jonas, thanks capflu. Black color with reddish highlight and tan head. Aroma is cocoa, dark chocolate, dark fruits. Taste is dark chocolate, plums, rich feeling. Not infinite density, but a good benchmark ImpStout.

Bouteille 660ml, gracieuseté de lupulist, Thanks Mark! Couleur noire opaque, mousse moka fuyante laissant une dentelle éparse. Arôme d’alcool, café, malt torréfié, boisé, cacao, crayon de bois. Goût de malt torréfié, café surtout en fin de bouche, boisé, chocolat noir, alcool (quoi que bien camouflé), noix. Carbonatation faible, corps dense, collante.

On June 22, 2015. Thanks to fiulijn!Bottle with black wax, 12.2% ABV, 2014 vintage.Black color, dark brown head. Sweet, alcohol, metallic, roasted taste. Roasted, metallic aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium high bitterness. Sweet, malty, roasted, alcohol scent.

Re-rate: Poured from 650mL bottle (2021 vintage - abv listed as 11.8%). Cap was rusted under the wax and initial smell upon opening was an odd sardine smell (some sort of chemical reaction between the cap and wax?). Once poured in the glass, it subsided. Medium roast malt, feint barrel and chocolate, more of a medium body. Okay, but not a stand out. First rate - April 25, 2015 (7/4/8/4/15=3.8): Poured from the tap. Black with tan head. Getting a bit of the bourbon, some mild chocolate and coffee, subtle leather and tobacco. Good, but not the best imperial stout.

Bottle of the 2013 thanks to gnashville. A dark cola pour with ruby highlights. Sweet, oaky vanilla aroma a bit boozier. Sweet meaty dark candied fruits a bit of heat and a solid bourbon character. This has more of a barrel character than the 2014. Ap 4 P 4 Ar 8 t 9 o 16 2014 is a bit paler but has a thicker head of foam. The aroma is sweet malty, nutty, it had heat that burns my nostrils somewhat. It tastes much simpler than the 2013, lots of heat and some slick sweet oakiness. It seems more sugary than the 2013. Ap 4 p 4 Ar 7 t 7 o 15 For me the 2013 is the clear winner.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, and liquorice. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, caramel, and dark chocolate, leading to a dry finish.
