This dry English Barleywine, created with our friends at Chicago Maple, rested for one year in freshly emptied maple syrup bourbon barrels before being sweetened with that same syrup just prior to packaging. Subtle maple aromatics and flavor complement the classic vanilla and toffee notes we’ve come to expect without detriment to balance. Enjoy now or store cold

Can from Beer Republic. It pours deep ruby with a small khaki head. The aroma is soft, oily, touch of umami, sappy, resinous, oily, maple glazed donut, nutty, woody, bourbon soaked oak, toffee, vanilla fudge, dried fruits, fruit cake and brown bread. The taste is slick, thick, oily, sappy, sticky, maple syrup, vanilla fudge, maple glazed donuts, dried fruits, fruit cake, date, sugared plums, warming booze, sugary, vanilla custard, some spice, warming spice and toasted brown bread with a slick, booze maple syrup finish. Fulsome body and moderate carbonation. A bit too sweet for taste, but fun nonetheless.

Canned 12/6/21, drunk 11/27/22. Clear, ruddy-amber-auburn, small, dark beige head to ring. Nose is lovely maple, rich, honey-and-toffee malt, nicely aged with liquor-like spiciness and dryness. Vanilla, buttercream, barrel acidity/tannin, oak, jesus, it's all here. Can't believe this is so luxurious. No sign of booze nor any overly sugary/syrupy notes. No oxidation or intense specialty malt. Just lightly fruity yeast, balanced bourbon, rich but seemingly attenuated malts and lingering pepper/spice. Rich, sweet, but with balanced acidity, good barrel character but with no sharpness/harshness/heavy alcohol. Rich maple, with fruity, succulent toffee finish. This is pretty god damned incredible. Reminds of a BCBS Barleywine. Rich, malty, borderline syrupy, succulent and just balanced enough. And no alcohol showing through somehow. What a treat!

Gorgeous dark copper colour, looks thick, syrupy. Smell is oldschool barleywine: malty, dried fruit, and a good amount of maple and light bourbon thrown in. Smooth, rich body. Taste is the smell with more. Raisins, caramel, maple, bourbon, more maple.

Pours a deep, reddish-brown, with mid-sized head. Aroma is maple, bourbon, vanilla. Flavor follows. Very, very sweet and smooth. ABV is pretty well-hidden from flavor and aroma.
