Bottle drunk after a day visiting the Waldhexe in the Forst to help unlock Zwerg Karl-Heinz's treasure chest. Mostly clear gold on first pour, big head, honey and flowers nose that's very reminiscent of farms in the late summer. Great complex caramel sweetness with umami notes, velvety carbonation spreading the big oily flavors around. Smooth bitterness and a bit of sourness that come in late to round things out, along with some mild cellary horse blanket. Very delicious!

Bottle at Foeders. Hazy golden. Biscuity malts, honey, thick dank weedy fresh hops, light allspice, cloves. Over medium sweet and bitter. I like it!

Flaska från Hopt. Disig orangegul vätska med högt krämigt stabilt skum. Doft med massor av fruktiga belgojästestrar som balanseras fint av hartzigt gräsig ädelhumle som ger en lång eftersmak. Bra rund kropp, stenfrukt, mineraler, korianderfrö, nejlikor. Mycket gott

Bottle @ Belgium. Pours hazy deep Golden with a small White head. Nose is yeasty - farmhouse, grains, ryebread and grassy hops. Dry and bitter flavor. Lovely.

Lichte body. Heerlijk bier.

330ml Bottle from Saveur-Biere.com. Hazy orange with a massive white foam. Aromas of citrus, grain, herbs and yeast. Flavours of orange, lemon, herbs, wood, yeast and grain. Also a slight pepperiness, mainly in the aftertaste. Semi-dry mouthfeel. Medium bitter.

De Ranke collaborating with a northern French brewery, connecting their 'bière de garde' with Belgian saison as it were; bottle from Hopt.be. Very thick and foamy, pillowy, egg-white, dense, regular, slightly lacing head sitting quietly atop a misty warm golden beer with vague pale orangey tinge and 'healthy' strings of sparkling rising up through the mist. Aroma of dried peach, fried pumpkin flesh, clove, wet cinnamon, wood bluegrass, sourdough, moist bread crust, freshly grated horseradish, dusty old coriander seed powder and quite a lot of it, old dried out cake, wet crackers, faint hints of dried mushrooms, apple peel and pumice. Fruity onset, some honeyish sweetness atop an array of subdued fruits, unripe peach, apple peel and a little dash of banana; lively carb with minerally effects but not interfering with the flavour too much. Full, rounded, bready core, wet old cracker- and rusk-like edges under ongoing 'dried' fruitiness and growing spiciness of clove and coriander; just in time, though, the hops take over, establishing a leafy, long-lasting, somewhat grassy and weedy bitterness, through which traces of breadiness and spicy yeastiness persist. Difficult to judge: this beer is completely De Ranke for sure, but I remain searching for that 'clean' and old-fashioned influence of a true French bière de garde. Decent enough dry-hoppy Belgian saison-esque ale, with sufficient 'De Ranke' thumbprint all over it, not bad at all.

More of a sharp hoppy belgian pale ale. Dry and hopped up. Well made but a little bitter, certainly not a bier de garde. beery xmas 2021
