Das Stadtbier hat eine lange Geschichte, die bis ins Mittelalter zurückreicht. Das typische Bier der Stadt Münster war zu dieser Zeit Grutbier, ein heute fast vergessener Bierstil. Die älteste erhaltene Urkunde, die uns Hinweise gibt, wie dieses Bier gebraut wurde, ist das Rechnungsbuch des Grutamts von 1480. Diese Akte und auch noch ältere archäologische Funde legen nahe, dass das Grutbier in Münster mit einer Kräutermischung aus Gagel, Wacholder, Kümmel und Hopfen gebraut wurde.

0,33 l bottle from Erzengel. Thanks a lot! Cloudy pale golden in the glass, small one finger short living white head. Malt with citrus on the nose. Taste starts a little bit herbal, malty, some citrus sourness. Nice.

Grainy nose. The beer starts mild with some sour parts. Easy to drink, fruity with a grainy back. The spices are a bit herbal sour, but not too intense. Fruity grainy with a nice grainy sourish finish.

0.33 l bottle from 'Craft Bier Bude', best before July 2024. Slightly hazy, golden yellow with a medium large, foamy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, gently herbal-spicy, moderately fruity-floral aroma of grains, hay, herbs and light lemon peel. Slightly sweet, gently bitter, quite herbal-spicy, slightly fruity-floral taste of grains, hay, juniper, lemon peel and herbs, followed by a medium long, gently bitter, fairly dry, quite herbal-spicy finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Refreshing with a nice balance between herbs and fruit, quite good.

Mild säuerlicher, kräutrig bananiger Start. Geringe Herbe, zunehmend Dinkel, die Bananigkeit nimmt leicht ab und gibt dem Wacholder Platz. Bananiger und leicht trockener Kräuterabgang. 9/10/10/10/8/10
