Plum Sloe Damson & Peat. On the 6th September 2018 we made a turbid wort from pilsner malt, rye and raw wheat. Six year old Fuggles hops were added to the wort for a four hour boil. Fourteen month fermentation. Barrel previously used for bourbon, Islay Scotch and Ross Cider. Re-fermented on local plums, sloes and damsons.

Bottle from the source. Pours somewhat murky orange-ish with off white foam. Aroma: peat, sour stone fruits, oak. Taste: peat dominates, iodine/medicinal, some cider barrel vibes, lighter notes of stone fruits in the background, mild funk. Quite complex. And it's super sharp, so much so that I couldn't manage to dome it alone. Medium body with foamy carbonation.

Bottle split at the Tickombe 30K last tasting before lockdown 2, thanks to the Wingman 01/11/20. Murky reddish orange with a decent off white cap. Nose is tarte fruit esters, smoked malts, light bonfire, mushed up berries. Taste comprises big smoked elements, medicinal aspects, stale damson jam, berry fruits, earthy, wooded notes, light funk. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a soured fruit edge but overtaken by the smoke. Quite a complex sour but rather dominated by the peat aspects ... glad to have shared this one three ways ... not one I'd have been keen on taking down solo in 750 format !

Bottle, by way of a trade. Thatโll probably end now that sales are going in house soon. Thankfully. Lightly hazy, dusky pink. Slimmest ring of white. Nose is almost all peat and Deep Heat. Touch of tart fruit. Plum and damson comes through as the beer warms. But the peat intensifies, too. Taste is dry and tart, with just a hint of savoury and smoky sweetness. Light to medium body. Foamy carbonation. Lightly acidic. Tart and smoky on the finish. Iโm betting this might be quite divisive. Itโs not for me though.
