Can from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is sweet chocolate with roasted malt, spicy notes, lots of cinnamon, chocolate cake, candy, toffee, mild liquorice. Not picking up on the chili. Flavour is rather sweet with a roasty bitterness. Body is medium to full. Bit overdone on the cinnamon and candy sweetness, and could have benefitted from some actual chili.

Can split at the 2nd CBJ tasting, thanks to Kenny 31/08/23. Black with a modest tan cap that clears to the edge. Nose is chocolate melt, dark malts, honey pot, spice. Taste comprises chocolate, dried fruits, toffee fudge, spice, bitter sweet aspects. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a chase of alcohol. Not bad if not from Moersleutel's top drawer.

Can shared in London. Cheers! Pours black with a small, foamy beige head. Medium to big sweet flavour with nice bittersweet dark chocolate, a little ash, earth, burnt wood. Full bodied, lightly oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, more rich and bitter dark chocolate. Sound.

Craft Beer Junction bottleshare. Thanks to me for the can. Almost opaque brown black beer, small and short lived tan head. Smooth palate, pretty modest carbonation, edging towards flat. Good fruity dark chocolate malts. Vanilla and something that tastes like Tonka. Failing to pick up any spice but there are esters. Light dry finish. Flawed on a few fronts but I don't hate it.

On tap at Het Lagerhuys, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is a bit messy, with spices, cocoa and some booze. Flavour is harsh, with Mexican chili peppers, burnt cocoa, and burnt sugars. Burnt and a bit muddled. Not impressive.

Superficial festival rating at Brew Festival, Oslo 2022. Saturday session 1. Dark brown, almost black body under a nice, dense beige head. Aroma is quite mild with dark malt and hint of vegetables. Taste is medium sweet dark malt, chocolate, green pepper and hint of alcohol. Fine body and same aftertaste. Less hot than expected from the name, actually not what I would considered to be hot al tall.

On tap at Brew Festival. It's black in the glass, with a dense, finger-thick tan head. The aroma is quite alcoholic, with roasted malts, some burnt malts, dark chocolate, charcoal notes and green bell pepper. It's lightly warming on the palate, full-bodied and nicely carbonated, with a mostly sweet flavor. The flavor is a bit more gentle than the aroma, still mostly on the dark malt side, with roasted and burnt flavors, some charcoal and dark chocolate and a good dash of caramel. A touch of green bell pepper too. Lasting malty finish. Sure not bad this one, but too gentle I think. 220430
